Some Paternal Ancestors of Edwin Brown (“Big Doc”) KUGLER Sr

According to Elsdon Smith's New Dictionary of American Family Names1 the surname Bray or Braye can mean “One who came from Bray (brow of a hill)”, the name of places in Berkshire and Devonshire; “one who came from Bray (muddy place)”, the name of several places in France; “the brave man”; or “dweller on a hill.” In Britain, the surname seems concentrated in southwest England—Devon and Cornwall.
